We had the opportunity to test the new FiiO K11, the latest device from the popular Chinese manufacturer. The company has rightfully built a strong reputation in the budget and ultra-budget segment of hi-fi enthusiast devices, and the K11 does not deviate from the tradition of previous models: few frills, good build quality, solid technical section, compact architecture, and strong playback performance relative to the price, which in this case is truly minimal.
This is a DAC and headphone amplifier with the possibility of adjusting gain on three levels, with 4.4mm and 6.35mm outputs, USB, coaxial, and RCA inputs, and an interesting digital-to-analog conversion chipset for its price range, namely the CS43198. Another noteworthy feature is the output power, up to 1400mW at 32 ohms balanced, meaning that apart from truly demanding headphones, the K11 is capable of driving virtually all models with ease.

The low-noise power section is appreciable (the power supply, as usual, is included in the box). As you can see from the photos, the device features a clear and very practical display and an intelligent control system via a knob that keeps the front panel very clean and greatly simplifies the user experience: the knob controls volume (with smooth micro-stepped operation), powers the K11 on and off, and when pressed provides access to the full settings menu.
You can switch between USB, OPT, and COAX IN; a long press of the knob gives access to additional settings: gain, output, digital filter, display brightness and auto-off, LED indicators on the top panel, firmware updates, and system reset. The user manual is very clear in explaining all possible customizations.
We must say that FiiO’s interaction system convinced us: this is a DAC/amp designed to be practical, and the knob + display controls are extremely easy to use and very user-friendly, making it suitable even for those without much hi-fi experience. Essentially, whatever setting you want, you just go into the menu, scroll to it, and adjust it as needed.
In the box (a cardboard package with inner compartments and foam padding, similar to other devices in this price range), we find, in addition to the K11, the aforementioned power supply, a USB cable, the user guide, warranty, and a 6.35mm jack adapter.
In extremely simple terms, the K11 is a device designed to take the headphone listener from smartphone or computer listening to an entry-level dedicated audio setup, already capable of delivering a first step toward clearer and more powerful sound.
FiiO K11 review: how does it sound?
As with anything in hi-fi, the product must be evaluated relative to its price point. In FiiO’s low-cost architecture, the CS43198 chipset performs particularly well. The sound signature tends toward clarity and naturalness, without particular coloration, with a good balance across frequencies, resulting in an overall well-judged presentation without noticeable spikes or imbalances.
It is also surprising that a device in the lowest price tier for a DAC + headphone amp can still deliver a sense of spatiality and decent instrument separation.
Power is not lacking, and the amplification stage is well tuned toward its goal—which, in our opinion, it achieves: offering an extremely affordable device, even under 140 euros, capable of enhancing budget headphones of decent quality and supporting the listener on the journey toward a more advanced headphone setup. All while being able to drive a very wide range of headphones thanks to its power.
The K11 also holds its ground with mid-range headphones such as Hifiman Sundara, Grado GW-100, or Sennheiser HD600; however, beyond this level, it becomes advisable to move toward more expensive DAC+AMP solutions such as the FiiO K7 or the iFi Zen DAC v3.
Conclusion
The FiiO K11 is a low-cost DAC and headphone amplifier designed to pair with budget headphones, while still offering solid build quality. The strength of its decoding section and the solidity of its amplification, combined with the convenience of a digital display interface, make this small device a solid first step into higher-quality headphone listening, especially recommended for beginners and for those looking to build a secondary headphone setup or a compact system for an office desk or studio.
If you currently use headphones connected directly to a smartphone or PC and feel it is time to improve your listening experience—taking the first but important step toward dedicated amplification and digital-to-analog conversion—the K11 is a safe choice. It is an excellent device for discovering the difference between dedicated audio electronics and the modest integrated chipsets found in smartphones and computers.
